How is the United States court system organized?

The United States has two court systems, the federal courts and the courts that each state maintains. The state court systems include the county and municipal courts and this court system handles the vast majority of cases in the country.

The highest court in the country is the Supreme Court which has the final say in the interpretation of the law.

Finally, see the handout given by the instructor for a chart of the U.S. court system.
